Our own Rose Pelvin was the organizer of this exhibition, and she was pleased with the result, and though she didn't explicitly say it, with the collective efforts of Marlborough Weavers, no doubt.

September Meeting: Rag Weaving, Part 2

Still on rag weaves - more that have stood the test of time.

Bag by Sue, finished with a fancy button and chain handle.

Cushion by Tricia with sample of the fabric strip attached.

A more complex cushion by June. Making the twisted cord for the outside took her the whole length of the house and them some!

Tricia contemplates the bolster-shaped cushion she made out of - guess what - cushion covers!

Chris made this 'up-to-the-minute' waistcoat for her teenagedaughter. Did she wear it? No!

A pity because it is lovely, and beautifully made.

No, sorry, it's not a new wool shop opened in town; it is PART of Tricia's stash - a really cheerful sight on another rainy weekend. Look at those colours and be inspired.

Bags, by Tricia Jane

A conscientious member that she is, on the morning of our last meeting of 2009 Tricia made a memory stick bag. Which, in turn, was carried in this fabulous knitted bag she made a few years ago. The asymmetrical shape hangs nicely when being carried.


This post concludes our series of bags, the group's project in 2009, shared/disclosed/shown/told/felt/admired during our November 2009 end-of-year meeting. But we had so much fun I wouldn't be surprised if there are more to come.

September Meeting Part 2

From evening dress . . . A sparkling model by Jenny, made when rag weaving was "in."

Joan began . . . Probably Joan's first jacket, all handspun.

Joan ponders what to do with fabric woven by Tricia years ago.

June's latest, hot off the loom at the bay. Tricia looking on.

Just add . . Dot has been making scarves by the dozen. Just the thing to add a spark to one of Joan's jackets.
